About DropVid
Updated 13 October 2026.
DropVid saves public videos from a link. Paste a link, or share it to DropVid from your phone, and save the video, the audio, a clip, the thumbnail or the subtitles. A built-in editor then turns a video into a GIF, a vertical 9:16 video, a still frame, an MP3 or a transcript, inside your browser.
Quick facts
- Works with TikTok, X / Twitter, Facebook, SoundCloud, Dailymotion and Twitch clips. Reddit, Vimeo, Bilibili, Instagram and YouTube work when those sites allow it; the status page shows what works right now.
- Five free downloads a day, with no account. Thumbnails, subtitles, the editor and direct links from X are always free.
- More downloads come from credit packs, held by a DropVid key instead of an account (pricing).
- Files are deleted from the server two minutes after you save them, and never kept longer than 20 minutes.
- The editor runs on your device. Files you edit are never uploaded.
- On phones, DropVid installs as an app and appears in the Share menu of TikTok, X and other apps.
What DropVid does not do
- It does not download private, paid or copy-protected videos, and it never logs in to any site on anyone's behalf.
- It does not keep, index or re-share videos.
- It does not use pop-under ads, fake download buttons or notification tricks.
How it works
DropVid fetches the video from the site you linked, the same way your browser would, prepares the format you chose, and hands it to you. It keeps itself up to date when sites change, and checks every site once an hour so problems show up on the status page before you run into them.
Use it fairly
Save what you have the right to save: your own videos, content shared for reuse, or videos for personal use where the law allows it. See the terms and how we handle copyright.
