What works

Tracks anyone can stream on SoundCloud without logging in. Go+ tracks, which only play a preview without a subscription, and private tracks do not work.

Many artists turn on SoundCloud's own Download button. If you see it on the track, that file is the original upload and usually the best quality.

Playlists

Paste a playlist or album link to see its tracks and save several at once. Each track counts as one download.

Questions

What bitrate is the MP3?
192 kbps. SoundCloud streams most tracks at 128 kbps or Opus at a similar quality, so this keeps everything there is.
Can I save a whole profile?
No. Use a playlist or album link.
