How it works

Why you get an MP4

When someone posts a GIF on X, X converts it to a small MP4 video. It is much smaller than a GIF and looks the same. Most apps, including WhatsApp and Telegram, play it as a looping GIF.

Some places only accept real .gif files, such as older forums and some messaging apps. For those, open the saved MP4 in the editor and make a GIF; it takes a few seconds and does not use another download.

Yes, both x.com and twitter.com links.
Can I save a GIF from a private account?
No. DropVid only works with public posts.
